Wanaka Fly Fishing, New Zealand's premier guided flyfishing service.
There is of course more to Wanaka than fishing, so while we are on a river somewhere your companions or kids can find lots of things to do. You can easily base your holidays here, just as we have based our lives. Wanaka is a café town on the edge of a wilderness which starts with Mt Aspiring National Park and town’s main attraction lies in its outdoors.
Other attractions
From summer trekking to winter husky races, through golf, beaches, mountain biking, sailing, flying and vineyard tours, I'd say we have it almost all in Wanaka. One activity that has become closely associated with Wanaka is flying and anything to do with vintage aircraft. This is largely due to the world-famous Warbirds Over Wanaka. There are also number of scenic-flight operators (including an ex-Eastern Bloc Albatros jet pictured here), which can take you on aerial tours anywhere from Mt Cook to Milford Sound.
Winter & more
The winter is of course the time when Wanaka shines at its brightest, with three ski fields - Treble Cone, Cardrona and Waiorau Snow Farm - forming the apexes of a triangle with the town in its centre. But again, don't call Wanaka just a "ski town." The art and wine scene is also strong in and around town: there are several galleries, art schools and vineyard tours.
Complete Holidays
When the weather packs in, you can engage the grey cells at the Puzzling World & Maze or spend the night at the movies in one-of-the-kind Cinema Paradiso. Overall, don't count on too many weather days as Wanaka is one of the sunniest places in New Zealand.
You can base your New Zealand flyfishing adventures at Wanaka Homestead. Bring you non-fishing companion along and we can organise alternative activities for them while you fish. Wanaka will not disappoint you!!!
